25 Worst Premier League Signings Ever

11. Savio Nsereko

Eyebrows were raised in East London when West Ham offloaded their record signing Craig Bellamy to Manchester City for £14m and reinvested £9m of the fee into Brescia striker Nsereko. The Ugandan-born forward had become the Hammers' record signing despite only scoring three times for a Serie B side who were struggling in mid table. Then-West Ham manager Gianfranco Zola saw something of himself in the young striker; a diminutive, creative forward who could use his intelligence rather than brute force to score goals.

That's about as close as Nsereko got to emulating Zola's style of play. From the off, he struggled to adapt his play to the more physical style of play of the Premier League, and after ten appearances, only one of which was a start, and no goals, he was shipped out to Fiorentina.

Since his ill-fated move to England, he has failed to get his career back on track; bouncing from club to club, forever remaining in the periphery of the starting eleven.
