4. UFC Fight Night Sydney: Luke Rockhold vs. Michael Bisping
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ivHZTTAwejQ Now this is probably the fight that has the most anticipation out of this list. Luke Rockhold and Michael Bisping have been taking shots at one another for months now. It has become a weekly theme, where a back and forth occurs between them on either twitter or in an interview. Its just another Bisping fight, where the anticipation continues to grow as the weeks go on. Now the fight isnt going to necessarily be a fight of the year candidate. Youll still get a fair share of excellent hype and animosity before the fight occurs. Rockhold seems like a bad matchup for Bisping on paper. Hes arguably the most well rounded fighter that Bisping has faced in years. Vitor Belfort is up there, but he doesnt really look for takedowns. Rockhold has no problem in taking the fight to the ground to either wear his opponent down or look towards his patented triangle choke. Then you look at his striking and see how he utilizes kicks. Not every high kick is going to land, but it will still affect his opponent even from blocking it effectively. We saw that happen in his victory over Jacare Souza. He went for high kicks repeatedly and eventually Souza wore down in the latter rounds. Nobody has ever seen Bisping wear down though. Even when Tim Kennedy repeatedly took him down, you saw Bisping continuing to try to avoid being full mounted. His cardio is his biggest asset that goes with his relentless pace. Im still skeptical about him trying to stand-and-trade with Rockhold. Also, he may try to go for a desperate takedown, which wouldnt bode well. Rockhold is a very intelligent fighter that always remains calm and cool. Even though hes a veteran, weve seen Bisping notoriously get frustrated and begin to get wild. Besides the animosity between both fighters, the most intriguing elements will be on who will remain disciplined and if Bisping can dictate the pace?
