2. UFC 180: Dennis Bermudez vs. Ricardo Lamas
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pLar8f5eTCY Another highly competitive featherweight bout features two fighters that tend to be forgotten about. Ricardo Lamas prefers to do his talking in the octagon, while Denis Bermudez remains passive in making demands for a title shot. Both fighters are considered to be the anti Conor McGregor, yet both of them can give McGregor significant problems. They both are excellent wrestlers that bring significant pressure in every fight. In particular, Bermudez loves to take his opponents back at any opportunity. That allows him to be in control of the fight and potentially lock in a rear naked choke. This is another close fight, where will see high-paced action for most likely three rounds. Neither of them is exactly extremely technical, but both make up for it with power and aggressiveness. Lamas overwhelmed Erik Koch in his breakthrough fight by not allowing him to get comfortable. Koch loves to throw a variety of different kicks and combinations. Lamas closed the distance and put him on his back en route to a career-defining win at the time. It will be much tougher test to put Bermudez on his back. His takedown defense is at 92 percent, which is even higher than Jose Aldos rate. He knows how to dictate the pace, while withstanding wild slugfests such as his fight against Matt Grice. This will simply be a crowd-pleasing fight that fans can get behind. The crowd went ballistic seeing Diego Sanchez and Gilbert Melendez slug it out without any hesitation. We could witness that here, with the pace being at an absurd rate.
