3. Sol Campbell (Tottenham Hotspur To Arsenal)
The Sol Campbell saga proved that a transfer fee is not needed to make an enemy of your former club when he moved across north London from Tottenham Hotspur to bitter rivals Arsenal in the summer of 2001 on a free transfer. Campbell was fast becoming England's best central defender and constantly reassured fans that he was staying, despite protracted contract talks between him and the club. He then started undoing all the work he had achieved in his decade with Spurs by rejecting a contract offer that would have made him their highest paid player ever. Fair enough, but then came the hammer blow that would knock Spurs fans sideways. The club captain agreed a transfer to arch rivals Arsenal in a bid to secure Champions League football. In a move that would define his career the defender moved to the Gunners, staying there for five successful years, and burning all bridges with his former club in the process. The Spurs fans' riposte went into overdrive every time the two clubs met, with cries of "Judas," forever following him from the White Hart Lane faithful. The England man won two Premier League trophies and three FA cups in his time with the Gunners, and narrowly missed out on Champions League glory in 2006 despite scoring in the final against Barcelona.
