5 Lessons Learned From UFC Fight Night 51

2. Bigfoot Silva Has Been Exposed As Over-hyped

He's 2-4 (1NC) in his last seven fights. He has lost to Cain Velasquez twice, once in a title bout. His wins are overrated: Travis Browne injured his leg early in his knockout loss to Silva, and Alistair Overeem fought cocky, and likely without some of the juice that had kept him relevant earlier in his career.

His draw with Mark Hunt, possibly the best fight of his career, was changed to a No Contest due to high testosterone levels (something we will let slide because Silva, who suffers from acromegaly, is one of the only fighters with legit testosterone therapy needs in the UFC, and will be undergoing surgery for the condition now that TRT is banned). He's been knocked out in all four of his recent losses, to Daniel Cormier, Velasquez twice, and now Arlovski.

Make no mistake: Bigfoot, who had been ranked fourth in the UFC heavyweight division, should have won this fight - at least based on that ranking. However, that ranking made no sense in the first place, given the fighter hadn't had a win since February 2013.

When he's back from surgery, expect Bigfoot to move into a gatekeeper role at heavyweght.
