Much like the man before him, Damián Suárez arrives at a club in need armed with all the credentials required to help maintain a steady ship. Albeit a little younger than Fernando Navarro at 27, the Uruguayan is no stranger to bottom half battles in La Liga, and has often played leading roles in ensuring his team is able to manage adversity successfully.

Having taken the reigns at Getafe just last month, manager Fran Escribá wasted little time in ensuring that Damián followed him from Elche to Madrid, while the full back was equally as happy to link back up with a coach he has produced his best football under. There's no reason to think that won't continue in the Spanish capital either.

Getafe battled for consistency with their right back spot for most of the season last year, but the signing of Damián now ensures that they will have no such a problem. As a figure who often wore the armband for Fran Escribá's Elche in 2015, and played a leading role in their spectacular fight against relegation (although later financial problems condemned them to it), Getafe have undoubtedly stolen a march on many of their fellow competitors down at the bottom with the capture of the Uruguayan.
