5 Premier League Teams Dramatically Better Since The Restart (And 5 Much Worse)
2. Worse - Leicester
Before the season kicked off, Foxes fans would probably have settled for fifth and a Europa League slot. But, given their blistering early season form, it's impossible to see their failure to make the Champions League as anything but a major disappointment.
Second place at Christmas, Brendan Rodgers had his Leicester players performing every bit as well as during their famous title win.
Even with a slight dip in form in early 2020, Leicester still went into the break in third. With an eight point gap to Man United in fifth, it still seemed like a top four position and a place in next year's Champions League was a dead certainty.
Come the final day and Leicester hosting United at the King Power Stadium, however, nothing but a win would suffice to secure that all-important top four slot. They lost 2-0.
While they were third in the pre-lockdown table, going solely on results since the restart places Leicester in 15th, with the same record as relegation strugglers Aston Villa.
Defeats to Chelsea and Man United, both of whom overtook them before the end of the season, hit Leicester hard. But it was a disastrous two minutes against lowly Bournemouth that really summed up Leicester's season since the break. In that time they managed to throw away a 1-0 lead, going 2-1 behind, having a player sent off and giving away a penalty. After a late own goal they went on to lose the Bournemouth game 4-1.
Rodgers will desperately hope that that isn't the form that his team take into the new season.
