5 Reasons Chelsea Will Win The League (And One They Won't)

2. Strength In Depth

Chelsea were one of the few active players in the January transfer window. Out went the side-lined Juan Mata to Manchester United; in came Mohamed Salah and Nemaja Matic. While their title rivals failed to strengthen (United are too far behind to be considered title rivals and still have many areas of their team that need addressing) Chelsea shipped out one unwanted player and brought in the 'Egyptian Messi' and a much needed reinforcement in central midfield. All the while breaking even. That Ashley Cole, England's best left back and for over a decade one of the best left backs in the Premier League, even Europe perhaps, cannot get into the starting eleven goes to show the depth at Mourinho's disposal. Salah will compete with established internationals Hazard, Andre Schurrle, and Willian, while any two from Lampard, Matic, John Obi Mikel, Oscar, Ramires, the injured Marco van Ginkel and even David Luiz are fielded in central midfield. That the Blues can have the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Victor Moses, Oriol Romeu, Thibaut Courtois, Marko Marin, new signing Kurt Zouma and many, many others out on loan and not really notice their absence proves Mourinho is at the helm of one of the strongest squads in world football.
