5 Reasons Jon Jones Is Already The Greatest MMA Fighter In History
5. Dominance
Throughout his 16-fight UFC career, Jon Jones has truly only been tested once, and that was his title defense vs. Alexander Gustafsson. One could argue that Daniel Cormier also pushed Jones, but at no point during that fight did the champ appear to be in any danger. This is a man who is not only winning fights decisively, he's pretty much negating his opponents entirely. Elite competitors such as Lyoto Machida and Mauricio Rua have looked like hapless children when locked inside the cage with the champ. Hype trains have formed behind challengers, most notably Rashad Evans, Glover Teixeira and Cormier before promptly being derailed by the force of nature that is Jones. Short of Gustafsson putting together the fight of his life a second time (assuming he gets past Anthony Johnson), there doesn't appear to be anyone on the horizon who has a chance to dethrone Bones. The most impressive thing about him is that it's almost silly how much better he is than everyone else.
