5 Reasons Why Swansea May Struggle To Avoid Relegation

2. The Spanish Contingent May Miss Laudrup

A big feature of Michael Laudrup's reign at Swansea was his love of attractive and attacking football, built around a core of Spanish talent, including Michu, Pablo Hernandez and Chico Flores, all of whom he signed. Now that the man who brought them to the club is departed, it is very likely that the Spanish section of the squad, who already reportedly had split off into cliques, will have their eyes on the summer transfer window, angling for a move back to Spain. Depending on where Laudrup ends up, they may find themselves snapped up sooner rather than later, as the Dane still possesses a solid global reputation. This may prove costly for Swansea, as the new player-manager Garry Monk will need every player to pull together, and pull the club further away from the drop zone. Monk cannot afford players moping after a departed manager, and the upcoming games will provide a clue as to whether the Spanish contingent can knuckle down and get on with their jobs. After all, no one wants a relegation on their CV.
