5 Takeaways From UFC On FOX 30

1. Conor McGregor's Time Is Up

"Not only smash. Change his face. I want to change his face." Those were the ominous words of Khabib Nurmagomedov backstage at UFC on FOX 30 in Calgary on Saturday. Khabib time is coming, in other words. And when it arrives, Conor McGregor may find himself in a very difficult spot.

McGregor has not fought in MMA since 2016, when he captured the lightweight title from Eddie Alvarez. He was subsequently stripped of both the featherweight and lightweight titles after failing to defend them, instead taking a boxing match with Floyd Mayweather. Then, in April, he attacked a bus Nurmagomedov was on, in retaliation for the Dagestani fighter going after one of McGregor's teammates, Artem Lobov (Nurmagomedov denies assaulting Lobov, but video does show Khabib and his entourage cornering the SBG Ireland fighter).

In any case, McGregor's time away from the sport has run out. And a very motivated Khabib Nurmagomedov awaits him upon his return. The fight is likely to happen this fall.

Asked about McGregor's plea deal, and the lack of additional punishment from the UFC, Nurmagomedov, now wearing the title McGregor was stripped of, said "to be honest, inside my heart I'm a little bit happy about this. Because if he goes to jail, what happens? How I can catch him? How? Only inside the cage."
