6 Premier League Players To Look Out For In 2014

6. John Guidetti - Man City

John Guidetti is quite possibly the biggest victim of Manchester City€™s endless wealth and squad resources. The 21-year-old was signed by fellow Swede Sven-Goran Eriksson three years ago and made an instant impact at under-18 level scoring 13 times in 13 games. Guidetti spent the 2011/12 season on loan at Dutch club Feyenoord scoring 20 goals in just 23 appearances, and making a name for himself as a talent to watch. Despite that impressive season he is yet to get a chance at City and with Aguero, Negredo, Dzeko and Jovetic all in front of him in the striking pecking order, he is likely to leave on loan in January. He has been heavily linked with a loan move to Malaga but Manchester City would be better replicating Chelsea€™s treatment of Romelu Lukaku, who has been loaned to both West Brom and Everton in the Premier League and has enjoyed successful spells at both, and benefited from the experience of staying in the same league. When and if he eventually returns to Chelsea they will have a readymade Premier League player, which may not have been the case if he was loaned abroad, and if Chelsea don€™t want him back, there will be a queue of clubs willing to sign him and his value would have soared due to his brilliant form. Manchester City should do the same with John Guidetti, who has been linked with Aston Villa, West Ham and Stoke City. Of those, the best potential move would probably be Stoke City, who are desperate for a striker. Stoke€™s new style of play implemented by Mark Hughes means they are created more chances than in previous years and Guidetti - who has the physique to play up front on his own - could be the man to finish those chances off. If Guidetti signs for a Premier League team this January he could be one of the surprise stars of 2014.
