6 Reasons Why England Should Use 3-5-2 Formation

5. A More Solid Central Defense

Similar to the full-back situation, none of the emerging center halves, has the same defensive acumen of the early 2000s era group - Tony Adams, Rio Ferdinand, Sol Campbell, John Terry, Ledley King, Jamie Carragher, Jonathan Woodgate, Martin Keown and Gareth Southgate.

Although it didn't help England to win anything, at any point between 1998-2010 when any two of these nine gentlemen were paired together - the heart of the three lions defense always had a robust appearance.

Currently no duo of English defenders would give such assurance in a back four formation and this fragility was clinically targeted by Luiz Suarez and Mario Balottelli during the World Cup.

England dilemma is reminiscent to Louis Van Gaal's with Netherlands in the World Cup.

The Dutch had many talented but inexperienced defenders in Stefan de Vrij, Bruno Martins Indi, Ron Vlaar, Ron Vlaar Daley Blind and Daryl Janmaat.

Van Gaal wasn't confident in playing them in a back four and countered his issue, by successfully incorporated Vlaar, de Vrij and Martins Indi as a defensive trio.

Gary Cahill, Calum Chambers, John Stones, Phil Jones and Eric Dier are very capable of replicating their dutch counterparts in those role and should be allowed to do so for the three-lions.

Curtis Davies should also be considered, because he has impressed in the Hull City 3-5-2.
