6 Shocking Brawls That Surrounded Huge MMA Fights

4. The Hospital Brawl - UFC 57

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DI6O6OOHaWg Leading up to their fight at UFC 57, Nick Diaz and Joe Riggs had a number of verbal altercations - most notably at the weigh-ins, but reportedly elsewhere as well. They apparently came close to letting things get out of hand in an elevator at one point. When the event finally came, their three round fight went the distance, but it was the aftermath of the fight, and an altercation at a local hospital, that made the match live on in infamy. Riggs had won the fight, and both men were taken to the hospital to get checked out. According to Riggs, in an interview with MMA Weekly, the following transpired: "We were like going to get a room, and like he is always popping off, talking smack. I go down toward his end of the hospital to find a doctor so he could watch me pee in a cup for the boxing commission, and he comes talking smack. I€™m like, go back to the WEC. You€™re bush league. You just got beat up. That€™s two in a row. You€™re out. I was just standing around talking sh#t to him. He was like, that€™s it, and comes out of his room. I had my hands down. He starts coming up to me. I just never in a million years thought he€™d throw a punch. He threw a right hook and hit me right in the chin. I mean it hit me right on the button. I seriously can€™t say that I was knocked out, but I kind of went down to a knee. Then we just fought and scrambled. I put him against the wall and just Thai clinched and started kneeing the s**t out of him. His nose was bleeding. I kept kneeing him, and they broke us up. That€™s all that happened." That's -all- that happened.
