When Ezequiel Lavezzi signed for Chinese side Hebei Fortune, his initial contact deal sounded a little underwhelming, but it turned out to be just the tip of the iceberg.

The Chinese Super League club were only formed in 2010 but are already the 7th most valuable club in China with a team valued at close to 100 million dollars. The team changed ownership in 2016 with the promise of big investment from new owners China Fortune Land Development.

Lavezzi, a pacy winger who signed that year, has certainly proved a hit at the club having averaged about a goal every two games. One clause in his contract states that he is paid 57 dollars for every minute he is on the pitch.

While that figure might appear minuscule when compared with the top end of the football market, looks can be deceiving. The Argentinian also has a secret payment clause and receives 56.7 million dollars in a Luxembourg-based account for every two years of service. That translates to a mammoth figure of 798,000 pounds per week!
