6. Jackson Martinez - FC Porto (transfermarkt value: £26.4 million)

Signed from Chiapas in Mexico in 2012, as the replacement for fellow countryman Radamel Falcao who had left for Atletico Madrid a year earlier, Martinez has gone from strength to strength leading the line for "The Dragons", winning the title in his first season as top goalscorer in the Portuguese league with 26 goals. Many clubs have taken note since then, which explains his astronomical transfermarkt value! It is hardly set in stone that any club will have to pay that amount for the 27-year-old, who in reality is at the peak of his powers now and not likely to improve. That said, he's an absolute goal machine, adding another 23 goals to his Porto tally last term as they were beaten to the title to our old friends, Benfica. He also got on the score sheet in the World Cup for his country, as they begin to turn a lot of heads with their performances in Brazil, perhaps a figure north of £20 million would need to be forked out. Newcastle United love a good striker as everyone knows, and Jackson Martinez would most definitely be fitting as the latest big name signing on Tyneside.
