7 Reasons Why Lebron James Opted Out Of His Miami Heat Contract

Will NBA fans be watching the sequel to "The Decision?"

Miami Heat forward Lebron James has made it clear, through his agent to the team, that he will opt out of his contract. This will make James a free agent for the first time since 2010. It was then that James told the world his plans to "take his talents to South Beach" and join the Miami Heat. James made the announcement on an ESPN special named "The Decision." Will we witness another special? Will NBA fans be watching the sequel to "The Decision?" There are many reasons why someone would opt out of their contract in the NBA. He could be planning on leaving his current team. He could just be looking to sign a longer term contract. Or he could be looking to make more money either with his current team or a different one. Since James has not made it known whether or not he will be resigning with the Heat, many NBA teams have been working hard the last four years, hoping to clear enough salary cap space to sign the former NBA MVP and Champion. Even the team that James left in 2010, the Cleveland Cavaliers, are hoping that James leaves Miami and heads home. Many of James' good friends also have the opportunity to be free agents this summer. His teammates Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh have the same opt out clause in their contract as James. Carmelo Anthony, another friend of James, has already opted out of his contract with the New York Knicks. James has the opportunity to create another superteam with fellow All Stars and teammates. With that said, here are seven reasons why Lebron James chose to opt out of his current contract with the Miami Heat.
