8 Classic Man Utd/Newcastle Old Trafford Encounters

6. Manchester United 2-2 Newcastle United, September 12th 1987 (Old First Division)

"His name is Mirandinha, he's not from Argentina, he's from Brazil..." - you know the rest. Yep, it was the Brazilian who helped the Magpies to a hard-fought 2-2 draw at Old Trafford in September 1987, netting both of the visitors' goals. With Mirandinha (above) having put Newcastle ahead in the seventh minute, Jesper Olsen equalised for the home side just seconds later. However, Mirandinha struck again in the 28th minute to restore the Magpies' lead, but NUFC were thwarted by a Brian McClair penalty right on half-time. After four goals in the first-half, neither side could find the back of the net during the second 45 - and the match ended in a draw.
