2010-11. Spurs finish top of a group consisting of Benitez's Inter Milan, McClaren's FC Twente and Schaaf's Werder Bremen. They squeeze past Milan in the round of 16 and are then completely dismantled by Real Madrid in the Quarter-FInal. This was the first and last time the Lilywhites have competed in the Champions League, despite battling for a place every year. In fact the club have only finished below fifth three times in the last ten years.

Mauricio Pochettino will be hoping Spurs can break into that top four this season, with Harry Kane spearheading the challenge. After a fantastic return last season, where the 21 year old found the net 31 times in all competitions, Pochettino will be hoping the England International can carry the form on and help Tottenham push for fourth.

With competition for fourth spot strong in the Premier League, Spurs will find it even more difficult this season. Competing with last years top four, Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal, as well as Liverpool and possibly Southampton, will not be an easy task, especially as a 'major' signing is yet to arrive at White Heart Lane this summer.
