Danny Drinkwater was a product of the Manchester United youth development system. He had loan spells at Huddersfield, Cardiff, Watford and Barnsley. After this, in 2012, the player was sold to Leicester City in the Championship.

Right from his signing Drinkwater became an integral part of the Leicester City team, and despite suffering from injury in the 14/15 season, he was still a large part of the promotion winning team.

In the world dominating story of Leicester City managing to defy the odds and win the Premier League title, Drinkwater found himself playing a major role in the foxes dominance of the league, earning notoriety throughout the world of football for his successful style of play.

Danny enjoyed one more season with the foxes after their fairytale win, before joining Chelsea in September 2017. This is when the Englishman's trouble began as he only made 12 appearances over the course of almost 2 years at Chelsea.

In August of 2018 Burnley took a chance on the out of favour midfielder but quickly regretted the decision as they only found him good enough for a single Premier League appearance.

Drinkwater is now at Aston Villa and found himself at the heart of off-the-field controversy. Surely this is one of the worst cases of overpayment for a footballer, as the former Premier League winner is bringing home a ridiculous £100k a week to almost never play, and perform poorly in the games where he does feature.
