Shkodran Mustafi began his senior career with Serie B side Sampdoria in the 11/12 season where he was part of the promotion winning team, having had 1 appearance. The following season the defender saw himself make 17 appearances, and by the 13/14 Serie A season he was a regular starter.

Mustafi enjoyed success in Italy, and as such Valencia came in for the German and he made the switch to La Liga in 2014, where he enjoyed 2 great seasons and even registered a few goals.

In 2016 Premier League side Arsenal bought the player and he had relative success with the Gunners as they finished second in the league, following that up the next season by winning the FA Cup.

However, since 2018 Mustafi has seen his form slip consistently, and he is a shell of the potential once saw in him. Yet he still finds himself in the starting line-up due to constant injury problems faced by his club, and their unwillingness to invest in top-quality players any further back than the midfield positions.

Recently Mustafi has been at the centre of a calamity of errors and it is evident that the team need to find an alternative solution than paying a poorly performing, and game conceding defender £90k a week to come up with different ways to let his team down.
