8 Players Who Probably Regret Leaving Crystal Palace

2. Wilfried Zaha

After an exceptional 2012/13 at Selhurst, Zaha gave in to temptation and defected to Manchester United. The Premier League giants were so confident in the man who had never kicked a ball in the top-tier of English football that they parted with £15 million for the youngster. It is true that the rapid wingers combination of strength, speed and an arsenal of killer skills had been ripping through Championship defences but United were taking a big risk paying this sum for someone so unproven. Though United would graciously loan Zaha back to Palace for the remainder of the 2012/13 season which would prove vital in Palace€™s successful play-off run, the winger wouldn€™t have the same impact for United the next season. The faster, more athletic defences of the Barclays PL are better equipped to deal with the strong, rapid winger. This meant that Zaha €“ who had only appeared only twice in a United jersey in the League Cup €“ would be loaned out to Cardiff City. However, even with the stage set for Wilf to impress at Cardiff, the ex-Palace player still failed to recapture his form of the previous season and was unable to keep Cardiff€™s sinking Premier League ship afloat. With the hype surrounding Zaha completely extinguished, he must surely of wished he just stayed with the club which he helped bring up to the top flight.
