8 Teams That Totally Lost The NFL Draft

2. San Francisco 49ers

Unlike the Colts, the 49ers really are a team in turmoil. The departure of Jim Harbaugh was big, and the shock double retirements of Patrick Willis and Chris Borland were a body-blow for the team. The hole at inside linebacker was glaring, and it was double-sized, yet the 49ers didn't draft a single replacement, not even one. It's not like the 49ers were short of picks either. They walked away with 10 players in the end, including a fifth-round punter despite already boasting the one of the league's finest, Andy Lee. Arik Armstead was taken in the first round but it remains to be seen whether he'll sink or swim, while second round choice Jaquiski Tartt looks to have gone high. A lot of the 49ers selections have potential for the future, but they really needed a great draft to make up for last year's disappointing season. They didn't do that, and now they're going to pay the price. Bottom place in the intense NFC West looks like a very distinct probability.
