The Dutchman rarely features in the the countless other lists to take over Wenger, but given his stellar playing career, success as a manager and the fact he's available, De Boer ought to be mentioned regardless.

He led Ajax to an unprecedented four successive Eredevisie championships between 2011 and 2014. De Boer resigned at the end of a disappointing 2015-16 season after Ajax lost out on the league title to PSV Eindhoven in the last game of the campaign.

He was previously linked to the Everton job, before compatriot Ronald Koeman took charge, and there's been talk of him assuming the vacant Rangers manager's post. Incidentally, it would be grossly unfair to even suggest his reputation should be tarnished by his ill-fated, 85-day spell as Inter Milan boss, as Inter has been in a mess ever since Jose Mourinho left in the summer of 2010.
