Arsenal: 8 Steps Arsene Wenger Has Taken To Revive The Gunners

4. Exodus 28:2

€œAnd thou shalt make holy garments for Aaron thy brother for glory and for beauty.€ When Aaron Ramsey signed a new 5-year deal with Arsenal on December 19th 2012, he was in the middle of the worst spell of his career and the bastion of fan's frustration at the failings of their side on the pitch. Following a horrific double fracture of his tibia and fibula in a game against Stoke in February 2010 and, thus, a long absence from first team football, Ramsey's career suffered a sharp decline from the widely tapped potential that surrounded him when he arrived from Cardiff in 2008. To put it simply, Ramsey suffered. Physically, through his injury and, then, mentally from a desperate lack of confidence that can only have been exasperated by the venomous abuse he suffered from his own fans-- casual or passionate, it didn't matter. Aaron Ramsey sucked. Wenger couldn't sell him soon enough, so to see him sign a new 5-year deal was worthy of patronising, eye-rolling emoticon. The revolution that is Aaron Ramsey in 2013-14 is, in my opinion, one of Arséne Wenger's proudest achievements. I can only hope that, somewhere during his stunning run of scoring at least one goal or providing at least one assist in 12 out of 16 of Arsenal's fixtures between August and December, Arséne took a moment to take Aaron aside and remind him of how he always had faith that he would come good, even during the worst of times... because nobody else did. That's what separates good managers from great managers. I take absolutely no pleasure in admitting I was one of Ramsey's most ardent oppressors. I take absolutely no shame in admitting how wrong I was. It's no slight stretch to say that Arsenal wouldn't be in the hunt for the league title right now had Aaron Ramsey not been a part of their team. IF they go on to win, he will be a primary reason. Thank God Wenger kept the faith.
