Arsenal Set To Beat Man Utd In The Race For Defender's Signature

Will Arsene Wenger pip Louis Van Gaal to his signature?

Arsenal have reportedly made a £13 million bid to rival Manchester United's interest in Zenit Saints Petersburg defender Ezequiel Garay, according to the Metro. The 28-year-old is believed to be unhappy in Russia and has been linked with the Red Devils since the end of the 2014/15 season. Chelsea have also expressed interest in the Argentine defender but it's the Gunners who have reportedly made the first bid of £13 million. The central defender made 25 appearances for Andre Villas-Boas' side last season and is currently taking part in the Copa America tournament where his side will face Paraguay in the semi-finals of the tournament on Tuesday. The player is reportedly keen on making the move to North London but Zenit are likely to demand an increased transfer fee due to the strong interest in the player.
