Despite Wenger's reputation as a frugal manager, this would be his third notable signing this summer, a move which has seen his attacking formation enhanced considerably, with Cazorla joining Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud. Cazorla enjoyed an impressive tenure in his first year at Malaga, where he scored a whopping nine goals in La Liga, and so displays the diversity of both setting up his squadmates and taking his own initiative. This £18m spend would represent a determined gamble for the Gunners, and exceeds their previous record spend of £15m for Russian Andrei Arshavin, but will surely be in the name of glory in the coming season.
