Arsenal Transfer News: Gunners Plotting £30m Double Swoop For Cabaye & Santon?

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is plotting a £30 million double-swoop on Newcastle for defender Davide Santon and midfielder Yohan Cabaye, according to the Mirror. The Gunners failed with a £10 million bid for Cabaye last summer, but could revive their interest in the Frenchman this month, despite being told they must pay £22 million for his services. Wenger has been hit by midfield problems recently, with Theo Walcott out for the rest of the season and fitness concerns over Jack Wilshere and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. Abou Diaby also looks set to be offloaded at the end of the season, leaving Wenger with a spot to fill in central midfield.
The Arsenal boss also remains keen on Santon, after tracking the Italian full-back during his Inter Milan days prior to his move to St James' Park this time last year. The versatile 23-year-old's ability to play on either flank is appealing to Wenger, especially as concerns mount over the future of Bacary Sagna, who is stalling on signing a new deal. Sagna has been linked with a huge £4 million-a-year move to Turkish giants Galatasaray, according to reports, and is out of contract at the Emirates at the end of the season.
