Arsenal Transfer News: Luis Suarez To Cost £100 Million?

Express. Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers remains insistent that Suarez is not for sale - but if he were, he'd be valued at a similar fee to that being quoted by Tottenham for Gareth Bale. Real Madrid, who have also been linked with the Uruguay international this summer, are expected to table a world-record £100 million transfer bid for Bale. And Rodgers believes that if the Welshman is worthy of a nine-figure sum, so too is Suarez. The 26-year-old marksman scored two more goals than Bale last season and finished as the Premier League's second-highest goalscorer, just behind Golden Boot winner Robin van Persie. And that, according to Rodgers, means the two should each have a more equal value. The Northern Irishman said of Suarez:

"It is very, very simple. He is a top player and we don't want to sell him. "Of course, throughout the world every player will have a value but you only have to look at the market - and £40 million and £1. Gareth Bale, they are talking about nine figures. "Gareth Bale and Luis Suarez were arguably the two best players in the Premier League and you can't say Bale is valued at more than 100 per cent more than Suarez. "Every single player will be open to that (right bid), but it is not even something we are thinking about.
Reports suggest Suarez, who wants to move to a Champions League club, is considering taking legal action and handing in a transfer request to force his way out of Anfield this summer. He thinks Arsenal's offer of £40 million plus £1 activated a release clause in his contract - though Liverpool disagree and maintain that clause does not force them into selling. Liverpool have now rejected two bids from the Gunners for Suarez.
