Arsenal Transfer News: Robin Van Persie Won't Join Manchester City

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has admitted he will lose out on signing the club's major summer target Robin van Persie.

the Sun, Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has admitted he will lose out on signing the club's major summer target Robin van Persie. City along with close rivals Manchester United have been named as favourites to land the Arsenal captain and PFA Player of the Year but it now seems that the Premier League champions are out of the race. RVP, who turns 29 today, shocked Arsenal fans last month when he announced on his personal website that he had no intention of committing his future to the Emirates by signing an extension to his contract that runs out in 12 months time. That had left Arsenal in a sticky situation - should they sell their prized asset to recoup a fee before the end of the transfer window or risk losing him to another club on a free transfer next summer. Manchester City are currently finding it difficult to shift high-earning players such as Emmanuel Adebayor and Roque Santa Cruz and with the UEFA financial fair play rules looming, it's no real surprise that City are out of the race to land RVP. Manicini told the Sun last night:

€œVan Persie? No, I don€™t think he will come here.€
