Arsenal Transfers: 10 DREAM Signings Arsene Wenger Could Make

8. Andrea Rannochia

Earlier this month, Arsene Wenger said that if he was to sign anyone this month, it would be a centre-back. Thomas Vermaelen has suffered a set-back in his rehabilitation from a troublesome combination of Achilles and knee injuries that has limited him to just seven appearances this season, while the Frenchman has only played a minute of Premier League football since the turn of the year. And that€™s just one of the reasons why Wenger is looking to sign Inter Milan€™s Andrea Rannochia this month. The 25-year-old has only 18 months remaining on his current contract at the San Siro and could be available for a knock-down price in January. The Italy international is also struggling to hold down a regular starting berth under Walter Mazzarri and as such could be open to a move to the Emirates. Given Arsenal€™s weaknesses at centre-back, both historically and currenty, Rannochia would be viewed as ideal cover for the injury-struck Vermaelen and at 25-years-old a long-term solution to what has in the past been a problem area for Wenger.
