Arsenal Transfers: 10 Greatest Ever Foreign Players

5. Cesc Fabregas

(Spain. 2003 - 2011. 212 Appearances, 35 Goals.) A product of the Barcelona youth system, Fabregas joined Arsenal in 2003 after manager Arsene Wenger sniffed out the massive potential he had in his play. Becoming the clubs youngest ever goal scorer after he netted in a home win over Wolves in the League Cup in 2003, Fabregas's fine performances earned him a regular spot in the Arsenal starting eleven midway through the 2004/2005 season. With his exquisite vision, impeccable technique and penetrable passing, Cesc grew into English football, dazzling fans with his abundance of ability at such a young age. He also was not shy of making a tackle and possessed a sprightly attitude (Along with the occasional throwing of pizza). The Spanish maestro also liked to find the back of the net, scoring important goals throughout his Arsenal career. One particularly big goal came against Juventus (With the recently departed Vieira marshalling the Italian's midfield) at Highbury in 2005, a game which he completely bossed from start to finish at the age of just nineteen. Awarded by Arsene Wenger with the captain's arm band in 2008, his vocal and commanding performances in the middle of the park inspired the likes of Jack Wilshere and Robin van Persie. A big regret for many Arsenal fans is never being able to see Fabregas captain the side to a major honour during his time with the North London club. Cesc rejoined his boyhood club Barcelona in the summer of 2011, but leaving with respect and admiration intact from the Arsenal crowd.
