Arsenal Transfers: 10 Replacements For Robin Van Persie

3. Andy CarrollClub: Liverpool Value: £16m With former club Newcastle United sniffing around the player, and Brendan Rodgers seemingly happy to see him leave, the big England centre-forward looks set to leave Anfield after a disappointing 18 month spell following that infamous £35m deal back in January 2011. And though he may not seem to fit the bill for Arsenal players, with a more direct approach needed to accommodate his particular qualities, but with pacier and more agile forwards like Giroud and Podolski already available to Wenger, Carroll may be the extra dimension that the manager needs. Carroll is one of the best players in the Premier League when it comes to holding the ball up, and if Wenger goes with a 4,3,3 Carroll might well be the ideal candidate for the middle role of the front three. Whether Carroll would prefer to join Arsenal over likely destination Newcastle (provided Liverpool are more realistic about his valuation than they were when they bought him) remains to be seen, but he could be drawn by the opportunity to play Champions League football.
