Arsenal Transfers: 3 January Reinforcements For Gunners Forward Line

If there's one lesson we learned from Premier League leaders Arsenal losing to old rivals Manchester United before the international break, then it's the Gunners might be in need of some backup in attack.

Nicklas Bendtner's glaring miss during a late Old Trafford cameo was a timely reminder that Arsene Wenger is reliant on Olivier Giroud up front alone. This point was hammered home by the fact that former Arsenal captain Robin van Persie headed in the winning goal for United. English wingers Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have both spent lengthy spells on the treatment table this autumn. Their absence has meant the Gunners squad has not been full strength and in consequence their approach play has been narrow even by Wenger's standards. Wales midfielder Aaron Ramsey is having the season of his life, scoring 11 (near enough a third) of the 34 goals Arsenal have managed in all competitions. Take him and Giroud out and the Gunners have lost more than half their firepower. Record signing Mesut Ozil leads the supporting cast with three strikes and several assists, but Wenger has indicated he has money and is willing to spend it in the January sales. Here are the latest names linked with a winter window switch to Arsenal.
