1. Nuri Sahin
The most likely of the army of supposed Arsenal transfer targets to actually move to North London is Turkish central-midfielder Nuri Sahin. The 23 year old signed for Real Madrid last summer after being the orchestrator for Borussia Dortmund in their league-winning campaign. Back then he was seen as an incredibly promising talent, Madrid forked out 12 million Euros for his signature and gave him Zinedine Zidanes hallowed number 5 shirt. Nuri Sahin was earmarked for success at an early age, and the news of his choice to play for Turkey rather than Germany was met with great excitement in the Turkish footballing world. Sahin is the star of the national team, having made 31 appearances for the Turkey to date, with a further 40 caps for Turkeys youth teams. The Turk also had a bright start to his club career, making his debut for Borussia Dortmund aged 16, as the youngest ever Bundesliga player at the time. He became an integral part of the Dortmund line-up over the years, culminating in him being voted Dortmunds player of the year for the 2010-11 season, (beating the likes of Mario Goetze, Shinji Kagawa and Robert Lewandowski to the accolade) Following his dream move to Madrid, he was unlucky with an injury that hampered his efforts to make a mark at the club early on, and he was unable to force his way into the side, in a position occupied by none other than Xabi Alonso. His current situation means that he will find playing time limited next season, with a loan away from the Bernabeu seen as the best move for his career. He remains however undoubtedly a prodigiously talented player, with attributes that would greatly benefit Arsenal in the forthcoming season. He plays a deep lying midfield role, similar to Arsenals own Song or Arteta, which means that he would provide excellent depth in that position (especially seeing as Song is being linked with Barca). Sahin is also equally capable of playing a slightly more advanced role, thus providing cover for the injury-stricken duo of Wilshere and Rosicky. His recent deployment as a left-back by Jose Mourinho in pre-season is fantastic because it would mean that he could cover that position too, making Sahin a true utility player that would greatly benefit a team like the Gunners, infamous for their injury list. These qualities make Sahin a contender to be the missing puzzle piece in Arsenals hunt for trophies; and in my opinion hes definitely worth a chance as he wouldnt cost the club a penny in transfer fees.
