3. Lars Bender
Since the departure of Alex Song to Barcelona in 2012, the Gunners have been craving the need for defensive midfielder to protect the back four and give them an aura that has argubly been missing since Song, or, going back further, Patrick Vieira. Arsenal fans may argue that Jack Wilshere can inherit the mantle of the above legends but his injury problems may provoke Wenger into buying a reliable back-up The fact is that the men mentioned above loved a good tackle and breaking the play up and so does the German. Added to the fact that he can maraude forward and provide killer passes for the likes of Giroud and Cazorla to attack, Wenger may delve into the coffers to prise him from Leverkusen. Already in the summer, they have been
rebuffed in their advances, but as they haven't parted with any money thus far, the Gunners may yet have sufficient funds to force Leverkusen to do a U-turn and part with another star, having already seen Dani Carvajal and André Schurrle depart for Real Madrid and Chelsea respectively.
