Of all the players in this list, this suggestion will probably be the most obvious choice to Arsenal fans. The French forward may operate well as an option off the bench, as evidenced through the season, but as a starting forward he provides little in the way of goals or assists.

In comparison, Chelsea’s lead striker Diego Costa chipped in with 20 league goals helping the Blues to capture the title, while Tottenham’s Harry Kane walked away with the Golden Boot by scoring a remarkable 29 goals. That was the difference for them finishing in the top two. Other rivals that pipped Arsenal to the remaining Champions League spots also seem to owe their success to the proficiency of their forwards.

As remarked before, Wenger must aid last season’s top scorer Alexis Sanchez by adding a proven goal scorer to the ranks. Rumoured targets such as Monaco’s Kylian Mbappe and Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette seems to indicate that Arsenal’s recruitment department are also following this line of thinking. Giroud’s knack for making an impact upon being subbed on could help Arsenal by providing regular starting forwards a break from the rigours of the challenge on four fronts.

Dissatisfaction with this role by the player himself could result in a move back to his home country which would provide the desired regular playing time for the 30-year-old striker.
