Striker 1: Jeremie Aliadiere
In a club that is renowned for its employment of great French footballers, it was not surprising that Arsene Wenger brought in another compatriot to the club. Jeremie Aliadiere came to the club with a great deal of promise, and still today holds the record for the most goals scored in the FA Youth Cup. He made his debut in the famous double winning season of 2001/02, when he come on as a substitute for Thierry Henry, certainly hoping he would become renowned in the same manner. By the time he left the club in 2007, the comparison between the two couldn't have been further from the truth. In 29 league appearances for the club he only scored one goal, as his substandard performances were somehow unable to shift the preferred strikers of Henry, Bergkamp, Reyes, Van Persie, Wiltord, Adebayor, Kanu, etc. Aliadiere was an incredibly poor striker and looked weak and wiry in matches, as it seemed that the splendour of the occasion would overwhelm him. He continued to be a threat in domestic cups as he was a presence in the League Cup in particular. Nevertheless, he was never going to make an impression on the Gunners, as he was sent on loan to numerous clubs that also refused to play him, and only played for the club before his departure due to a serious injury crisis to the strikers.
