Aston Villa: 5 Reasons They Can Still Get Relegated

5. They Have Lost A Few Too Many Games This Season (13 Defeats)

Finding the right balance in the Premier League is always a difficult task, but it€™s fairly logical that losing too many games is also likely to land you in trouble. This season Aston Villa have lost on 13 occasions in the 27 games that they have played so far; only Sunderland, Cardiff, Crystal Palace and Fulham have lost more league games. In fact, they have lost one more game than they have won or drawn this season, which is never a good system; to put it another way Paul Lambert€™s team have a 48.1% chance of losing any given game based on these stats. What€™s interesting is making a comparison with last season when Villa lost 17 games in the league. Of course, we still have 11 games of the current season to go, so there is little evidence to suggest that they will certainly improve on that record. The further point here is that Villa had a poor season last year when they only survived by five points, progress was expected this season €“ and although they started better, such progress at the end of this season is not guaranteed.
