Aston Villa Transfers: 5 Strikers To Target In January To Cover For Christian Benteke’s Loss Of Form
3. Mame Biram Diouf
Ok, I would freely admit that bringing Mame Biram Diouf back to English football would be a significant risk. The player did have spells with Blackburn Rovers and Manchester United in the past, but failed to demonstrate his ability as a regular goalscorer. The Senegal international though does have adaptability to his game that allows him to play as a right winger or a striker. Diouf has also proved in the past that he is a capable scoring of goals with a successful time in Norwegian football with FK Molde that saw him score 29 goals from 62 league games. The player is now plying his trade in the Bundesliga with Hannover 96 where he has score five goals from 11 starts. One of the areas that Aston Villa has struggled with this season is shots per game; their ratio of 12.3 is hardly that impressive. Judging by the stats on Diouf he certainly has the potential to improve that ratio since he takes 4.3 shots per game himself in German football. No Bundesliga player has been able to outperform him in that regard this season; he also likes to go on 1.6 dribbles per match. So, its down to Lambert to decide if he is worth the risk or not.
