Aston Villa v Newcastle: 5 Key Battles

3. Antonio Luna vs Hatem Ben Arfa

Throughout the summer transfer window Aston Villa have managed to sign some very promising players. Im sure most Villa fans will be very happy with the business conducted by their club, not least arguably their best bit of business which was keeping Benteke at the club. However it is their marauding Spanish left back that I think has a key role to play against Newcastle. Luna who has signed a three year deal at Villa started and scored on his Premier League debut away at Arsenal last month. Although it is his defensive qualities that I feel need to be up to scratch in this game, as he comes head to head with Hatem Ben Arfa. If he can keep the french trickster quiet then he will have done a great deal to stop Newcastle winning the match. Hatem Ben Arfa has been set a challenge by manager Alan Pardew to try and improve his consistency in terms of impact upon matches. Last time out against Fulham at St James Park Ben Arfa smashed in the winner in a 1-0 result. He will be hoping to build upon that performance and should be buoyed by Pardew's words of encouragement. On his day he can be a extremely tricky customer but quite often he can be his own worst enemy too. Depending upon what mood he is in will determine the difficulty of the task in hand for Villa's Luna. Either way the winner of this battle will have had a big impact upon the final outcome of the match in my opinion.
