44. Gary Cahill

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OLh-JLBb0ys Sport - Football £7 million is something of a bargain for an established defender in the world of football, but it was all that Chelsea needed to pay in order to secure the transfer of centre-back Gary Cahill from Bolton Wanderers in January. Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham were also said to have expressed an interest in the twenty-six year-old, whose choice of the Blues saw him quickly establish himself in a defence already containing esteemed players in the form of Brazilian David Luiz, Serbian Bratislav Ivanovic and England regulars John Terry and Ashley Cole. An injury to Luiz gave Cahill the opportunity to play a crucial role in Chelsea€™s UEFA Champion€™s League semi-final win against the world€™s best team, Barcelona, making several vital challenges in what was one of nineteen games he played in his first half-season at the club. Though an injury saw him ruled out of both the majority of the second leg and the FA Cup final, he returned to partner Luiz for the Champions League final against German giants Bayern Munich due to the suspensions of Terry and Ivanovic, despite questions being asked about his fitness. He performed exceptionally as Chelsea became the first English team apart from Manchester United or Liverpool to lift the trophy since the 1980s, closing the book on a season that also saw him become a regular for the national team, with an impressive goal scoring ratio for a defender.
