Cardiff City: 5 Craziest Things Vincent Tan Has Done

5. Goodbye Mackay

The decision to include the sacking of Malky Mackay in this list may cause a few rifts. Views on this issue are split with some backing Tan is his decision while others call him harsh. I wasn't surprised when Mackay was sacked but I did feel a fair bit of sympathy towards him. The main talking point on the departure of Mackay was the way that it happened. The Premier League experiences a high number of managerial changes throughout the course of a season but what we all witnessed at Cardiff was an isolated incident. As results started to go against Cardiff's Scottish manager the pressure began to rise. Owner Vincent Tan issued an ultimatum- quit or be sacked. There was hardly a choice to make really, as quitting would cost Mackay his large pay-off. The Scotsman stayed but not for long. Tan fired Mackay and replaced him with former Manchester United and Norway striker Ole Gunnar Solksjaer. I've said before that Solksjaer can save Cardiff and all in all it is a very good appointment. However, the way that Mackay departed will go down in the record books as the latest, and arguably most poisonous, clash between owner and manager.
