Charlie Austin Urged To Join Newcastle By Toon Legend Alan Shearer

Shearer has spoken - and he has jokingly urged Austin to make the move north.

Newcastle United have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Queens Park Rangers forward Charlie Austin - with Magpies legend Alan Shearer jokingly encouraging the striker to move to the North East. Shearer, who netted a Newcastle record 260 goals in black and white, replied to Austin's tweet explaining that "no one" will catch the former England captain's Premier League mark. The Magpies are tracking Austin and have been reportedly quoted £15 million for their top transfer target by QPR. https://twitter.com/chazaustin9/status/607994681994133505 https://twitter.com/alanshearer/status/607997608053850112 Austin, 25, was the fourth-top scorer in the Premier League in 2014-15 having bagged an impressive 18 goals despite playing for a side who finished bottom of the table and he has just a year left on his Loftus Road deal. And Shearer made a playful remark to Austin on Twitter on Monday night. QPR striker Austin, while away on England duty, tweeted: "260 premier league goals!!! No one is catching him @alanshearer #thegoaldontmove." Shearer then replied: "Why don't you come up here (to Newcastle) and try?! #9 twitter.come/chazaustin9/st..."
Newcastle need to add firepower to their strikeforce because they managed just 40 Premier League goals throughout the entirety of the previous campaign - and top-scorer Papiss Cisse€™s future at the club is in doubt, meaning they will have just Ayoze Perez, Adam Armstrong and the goalless Emmanuel Riviere as forwards next year. They have turned their attention to the highly-coveted Austin, who will want to remain in the Premier League - and that cannot be with QPR next season following their relegation. Austin has scored 107 goals in 199 league games for Swindon, Burnley and QPR since the beginning of 2010.
