Chelsea 0-0 West Ham: 5 Things We Learnt

3. Chelsea Miss A World Class Striker

So many shots, but still no goals. On a night when the Blues were crying out for a goal, Samuel Eto'o and Demba Ba were the two strikers charged with finding the back of the net. No disrespect to the pair, as they are good strikers, but if Chelsea have aspirations of winning the Premier League then you have to think they need a world class striker. They clearly require a talisman to turn to when that crucial goal is so desperately need. A quick glance over to the current league leaders, Man City, and your eyes are immediately greeted by a plethora of attacking talent. Sergio Aguero, Alvaro Negredo, Edin Dzeko and Stevan Jovetic make up one of the most potent strike forces in Europe. Between them they have scored 69 goals, with Negredo and Aguero already on over 20 goals for the season. Such fire power has blasted City to the top of the table and, given their recent form, they are going to take some stopping. Against West Ham, Chelsea were crying out for a top draw centre forward. The fact that City have four to choose from, while Mourinho was forced to bring on Demba Ba, says it all. Without a world class striker it is difficult to see Chelsea winning the Premier League title. They are certainly superb at the back, but in games when they need that all important goal, you have to wonder if the Blues just lack in sufficient fire power.
