3. Thibaut Courtois Is Justifying Mourinho's Faith
The battle between Thibaut Courtois and Petr Cech for the first-choice goalkeeping role at Chelsea has been one of the major talking points around the club this summer and Mourinho had a difficult decision to make when it came to who to put between the sticks in the first game of the season. He opted for the Belgian prodigy Courtois, who had relatively little to do against Burnley but produced two strong stops against Leicester, both with an outstretched leg to deny David Nugent, while a supremely precise throw to get a counter-attack going in the second half also demonstrated his exquisite distribution. There's no question that neither the manager or Chelsea fans want to see Cech leave, as he's been a mainstay of the side for over ten years and is still in his prime. Courtois may have yet to face any top class strikers or sustained periods of threat in his first two games, but with plenty of pressure on his young shoulders to prove his worth, he's emerged having only conceded to one outstanding Scott Arfield strike. Sadly Cech does look likely to be on his way, but Chelsea fans will be feeling increasingly assured that the team's future is in steady hands when it comes to the young Belgian between the sticks.
