Chelsea 3-1 Man Utd: Premier League Player Ratings

Chelsea

Petr Cech: Reaction low stop early on from Young. Other efforts went straight at him. Got away with it when Blues overplayed it at the back at 3-0 up with Hernandez lurking. 6/10. Branislav Ivanovic: Looked as though he had never been away. Easy to see why Mourinho always picks him when available. 6.5/10. Gary Cahill: Assisted second Eto'o goal and effectively made his third. Where was the England international at the back post when Hernandez scored though? 6.5/10. John Terry: Needed protecting from the pace of Januzaj today and got that from teammates. Read play superbly in front of him. 7/10. Cesar Azpilicueta: Did just enough to put Welbeck off at 1-0. Limited Valencia's threat down his side. Reaffirmed being picked ahead of Ashley Cole in big games like this. 7/10. Ramires: Played a huge part in second Eto'o goal. Made trademark midfield surges and later moved out wide right when Oscar came off. No rash challenges today either. 6.5/10. David Luiz: Booked for foul on Valencia. Thereafter he took a few chances, but got away with them. Rendered Januzaj largely ineffective, but did not go with Welbeck's run in build-up to Hernandez goal. Matic could be the long term holding midfield option. 6/10. Willian: Put in both the corners that led to second and third Eto'o goals. A lively and thorny presence either wide or centrally throughout. Subbed. 7.5/10. Oscar: Tried an audacious overhead at 1-0. Switched with Willian a lot and in his fellow Brazilian's shadow a little today. Subbed. 6.5/10. Eden Hazard: In-form Belgian was a menace going forward today. Drew the foul that saw Vidic sent off. Classy stuff and if he replicates this form then he could star at the World Cup. 7/10. Samuel Eto'o: Our man of the match. An easy choice. Scored a deflected opener and then given freedom of the United penalty area to net a second. Was in the right place at the right time to tap in a third when De Gea Parried Cahill's header. Veteran put together a vintage fox in the box display. Subbed. 8.5/10. Subs: John Obi Mikel: Got the last quarter in place of Oscar. Played Hernandez onside for the United consolation. Matic is a major threat to him. 5/10. Fernando Torres: Only played 15 minutes when Eto'o came off. Rating N/A. Nemanja Matic: A second Blues debut was tantamount to a late cameo. Rating N/A.
