Chelsea Transfer News: Fellaini Issues Come And Get Me Plea

Sky Sports, who say that the Belgian midfielder has remarkably told Chelsea to come and make a bid for him, if they want to sign him. The midfielder, who joined Everton from Standard Liege back in 2008, has been strongly linked with a move away from Goodison, and specifically to Stamford Bridge for the past year, and according to Sky, the European champions considered a bid to bring him in in January, which failed to materialise. But now, Fellaini appears to be agitating for a move, even though he has maintained that he is happy at Everton and has three years remaining on his current deal, by suggesting that Chelsea should come and bid for him:

"If Chelsea want to sign me, then they need to come forward with a bid for me. I have heard about Chelsea's interest but I've honestly not spoken to them. "Every season I've been here, top clubs have been asking about me but, for now, I'm happy at Everton."

That "for now" is probably the kicker for Everton fans, who will worry that they are about to lose their star player, who has been a revelation once more this season. But Fellaini did add a caveat that might give those fans some confidence that he could stay if Everton finish in the top four:

"It might feel better to play Champions League football for Everton than Chelsea, as they gave me my debut in England."

It all sounds a little grim for Everton, though the context of the comments will no doubt play a major part in how Everton and Fellaini respond to this story. Chelsea meanwhile could do with this sort of calibre of player, especially if they are set to lose Frank Lampard this summer, and Fellaini would seem the perfect replacement for the England midfielder in the long-term, even if he signs a contract extension.
