TeamTalk report that Borussia Dortmund centre back Sokratis Papastathopoulos will be subject to transfer bids from both Arsenal and Chelsea this Summer.

The Greek international signed for Dortmund from Bundesliga rivals Werder Bremen in 2013. Sokratis is under contract to the German giants until the Summer of 2019 though, meaning it could take a huge fee to convince Dortmund officials that offloading Sokratis to the Premier League's biggest is a shrewd move.

Goal.com had previously claimed that the defender wanted more playing time and the opportunity to win more trophies before entering the twilight years of his career. At 29, he's still young enough to achieve things at either Arsenal or Chelsea.

Both Arsene Wenger and Antonio Conte will be interested in a solid central defender for different reasons. The defensive line at Arsenal has required attention for years now, whilst Chelsea will be looking to find a replacement for outgoing veteran John Terry.

There are no reports confirming how much money it'd take for London's finest to take Sokratis from Dortmund, but the length of time remaining on the player's current contract will surely demand a hefty sum.
