Much was expected of Chelsea this season with the return of the self-styled 'Special One' Jose Mourinho to the Stamford Bridge hotseat. This is, after all, the club's most successful manager of all time and one who led them to back-to-back Premier League titles in 2005 and 2006. However, the Blues have experienced something of a mixed bag since the return of the Portuguese coach. New players, such as Willian, Andre Schurrle and Samuel Eto'o were brought in to lend the Europa League winners extra firepower, but Chelsea then crashed to their worst start to a league season in a decade. Wins against Hull and Aston Villa, while drawing at Manchester United and losing at Everton, ensured the Londoners picked up their fewest points tally after four games of a campaign since 2003. Then came the Champions League embarrassment against Basel, a defeat which could yet prove costly in the group stages of Europe's top club competition. And that's not taking into account the striker problem. Seven games in to the season and a Chelsea forward has yet to score a single goal, a worrying statistic for Mourinho's front line to consider. Should Mourinho brandish Roman Abramovich's well-thumbed chequebook and splash the cash in January, and if so, who should he sign to fix his side's problems? Here, we take a look at 5 Signings Jose Mourinho Has To Make In January.
